Blue and Grey Amish Knot Toothbrush Round Rag Rug Farmhouse Style Starter Kit with Tool and Instructions OVAL OR ROUND OPTION
Need a new rug? Love the rag rug style? Want to make it yourself, but need a little help?
This Amish Knot/Toothbrush Rag Rug Starter kit comes with a starter, (12) extra fabric strips, 2 runner strips, instructions and a tool. ADD MORE OF YOUR OWN FABRIC to complete this rug.
The round rug starter is made from soft, vintage, upcycled fabric. The fabric is a multicolor print with blue, grey, white and peach muted tones. There is also a hint of green. The runner in the starter is white. You can create a beautiful cottage style rug with this kit. Many colors will match the fabric. 4 kits are available. Starter will vary with each kit.
ADD YOUR OWN cotton or cotton poly blend fabric, torn into 2 1/2" strips, to complete this rug and design it with a mixed up pattern of many colors. See the examples in the photos (with other colors, not the same fabric).
Approximately 2 yards of fabric are in the kit. You will need a total of about 10 yards of fabric to finish the rug. Adding 2 twin size flat sheets, or about 8 yards of fabric should give you about a small 28" round rug.
HERE'S AN IDEA: You can actually create a small table mat about 10"-12" wide with this kit. Finish the small project without any further investment of your time or money. Add your extra fabric if you love the process and want to keep going.
The fabric strips in this starter are 2 1/2" wide. If you add more fabric, your fabric should be torn to the same width. You can use your fabric strips long, or cut them to various lengths.
The wood tool that comes with this kit will vary. It may be red oak, maple, walnut or cherry, depending on our inventory. After using the tool for awhile, the wood will become conditioned and get smoother and smoother. My husband crafts the tools himself!
I have created some videos to demonstrate how to start a round toothbrush rug and how to create the knots, how to end your rug and more. I can send you the link or you can view them on my YouTube channel. (Whitehouse Whimsies and Rugs). Each video has a link for a blog post. I will also provide written instructions when you purchase a rug starter. The written instructions compliment the videos. If you have trouble, I will be glad to give some helpful hints or suggestions, but I cannot guarantee your success in learning how to do this. With practice you will get better and it is an addicting hobby for those who enjoy it. With the hardest part done for you, it is certainly worth a try!
