Item details

This arty lampwork ballpin set includes 6 handmade glass headpins. Our lampwork headpins are made with molten glass rods in a high temperature flame, we "paint" using glass. We call these little round headpins Bird's Eggs because they're perfect as eggs in handmade wire-wrapped nest projects. The tiny pins in this bundle are also fabulous for creative projects, earring designs and more!

Color Notes: This pretty southwestern inspired set features a core of soft blue covered in swirls of brown, purple and yellow ochre.

This set of lampwork ball pins is made with metallic, opaque and transparent glass. The 22 gauge Nichrome wires measure around 3-4 inches long. The glass portions of the pins are approximately 7mm, but each one is handmade and varies slightly - please use the photo with the ruler for size reference. You shall receive this exact set of ball pins.

Our lampwork pins are made using Effetre, Lauscha, Vetrofond, CIM, ASK and Double Helix soft glass rods and frits. All of our headpins are digitally kiln annealed for 10 hours to add strength and stability to the glass. All photos have been taken outdoors using sun light, but as always, computer and mobile screens display colors a little differently.

We are also a member of Self-Representing Artists. This means that our lampwork beads and pins are handmade, one at a time by us. Our SRA number is #L62. We have been making lampwork beads for about 10 years in our studio in the Ozarks area of Missouri. We are inspired by all things nature, and we love to create handmade things every single day.

• Dry Gulch Lampwork Headpin Tips and Care •
Due to the handmade glass nature of our lampwork headpins, care should be taken while using, wearing and storing them.

• For jewelry designers, we recommend using chain nose/flat nose pliers AND round nose pliers when making loops with the wire portions of our lampwork headpins. The glass can chip at the top if the tool is putting pressure on the glass, so take care when making loops.
• New owners who have taken home our lampwork headpins should take care that the pins do not fall on hard surfaces because they are glass.
• Our lampwork headpins should be stored separately from other jewelry and jewelry components, to diminish the risk of accidental chips in the glass.
• Our lampwork headpins can be cleaned with a soft toothbrush, soap and water. You can also use a glass cleaner.
• With proper care and love, your handmade Dry Gulch lampwork headpins will last forever!
