The second half of the 19th century and early part of the 20th century saw a new and interesting use of Crewel work. Inspired by medieval manuscripts and historical architecture, great designers of the time, such as William Morris, used soft rambling foliage, flowers and luxurious fruits. Long and short was used in abundance to create these satisfying designs, which were popular in their day and remain so now.
I studied at the Royal School of Needlework, Hampton Court Palace, Uk. Since passing my apprenticeship with distinction, I've worked as a freelance textile and embroidery kit designer among other things including running a shop for five years, artist in Oils and Antique dealer.
