Jester star bands - lampwork glass beads handmade by Rebecca Weddell
A set of seven lampwork glass beads in clear glass with shades of orange as zingy decoration, with attractive raised bands of orange glass providing an attractive eye-catching feature. Each bead has five such bands of glass in relief on the surface of the bead, giving them a certain star-like appearance when viewed from the sides.
These beads are vibrant, unusual and fun! There are several shades and intensity of orange making an appearing across this set - and be warned: they're bright, bright, BRIGHT!
The beads were made on 1.6mm mandrels, and have been kiln-annealed for lasting strength. The centre bead is the largest, and measures 15.5mm in diameter and 13.5mm from hole to hole, including the raised bands. The set is strung in tapering size order, with the smallest bead measuring 14.5mm in diameter and 12.5mm from hole to hole. Measurements are approximate.
Each bead is unique, having been made one by one at the torch flame in my hot-glass workshop in rural East Sussex. To find out more about the captivating craft of lampwork glass beadmaking, visit www.letfireinspire.co.uk
