I have here a nice medium sized ax with the head weighing in at 3 pounds. I hand forge these from a block of 4140 steel. The eye has a slight hour glass shape to it to help hold the handle nice and tight. The handle is hickory that is comfortable in the hand and handles the head very well. It has been lightly burned and then coated with multiple coats of linseed oil. It is held in with a wooden wedge and a steel wedge. This thing is razor sharp so handle with care.
