Create your own Tanto using this simple PDF pattern! Perfect for Cosplay or film props and the like.
Tantos can vary wildly in size and design so this template is more aimed to emulate what I believe to be the typical tanto shape in things like Anime and Video Games. I've tried making a simple, yet easily modifiable template. For all of these smaller pieces, a lot of those measurements I give in the downloadable PNG are suggestions. I've also included TWO versions! One version includes all the fittings to match more with my Katana Template. The other version is a Shirasaya version that seems to be more common in Anime and Video Games
In addition to the PDFs, you will also receive the second image above as a PNG to be used as reference!
This listing is ONLY for a DIGITAL FILE. The PDF is already formatted to be ready to print, to life-size 1:1 scale, on regular 8.5" x 11" letter paper. Simply press print and tape together the pages!
Recommend building process: Unless you've got everything figured from the beginning, I recommend always building the blade first! Everything is built around the blade! Then you should build the habaki next if you want one. Then the guard! And that's when you should make the hilt. You can then build the fuchi (hilt collar) and kashira (pommel cap) around the hilt. And the final step should be the scabbard.
