Mexican Vanilla Extract (this is my very favorite, the different origins do have different flavors.) Cured for 10 months. It has traditional vanilla notes with floral undertones. It smells so good that if a little spills down the side while I'm using it, I wipe it off and rub it on my neck! It's my husbands favorite too!
4 ounce amber glass bottle.
Ingredients: Mexican Vanilla Beans, Alcohol
This vanilla extract makes everything sweet taste better!
A little story about vanilla extract history in our home if you're interested.
A few years ago one of our kitchen cabinets came crashing to the ground. One of our children was climbing up to reach something out of it and she must have pulled herself up onto the counter by holding onto the cabinet. All I could say after surveying the aftermath was "Oh Lord, thank you so much that she wasn't hurt." How she didn't get hurt was nothing short of a miracle.
I was so overwhelmed by the mess that I just sat down and cried. It was the kind of mess that you just pack up and move for, (I'm only barely exaggerating!) The children ran to get my husband while I just stared and cried in shock.
You see, in that cabinet was five gallons worth of precious herbal tinctures, infusions and extractions, all using the highest quality, (read price,) organic herbs and bases. I had two half gallon jars of vanilla extract that were just about to be at their prime after 12 months curing. I had four half gallon jars filled with organic alcohol and various herbs that were waiting to be strained and bottled for various health promoting herbal medicines. I had lots of half gallon jars filled with organic olive oil and herbs that were being infused to turn into soothing skin salves and soaps.
There was SO much that was now scattered across the floor in a million shards of glass, oil, alcohol and herbs. On top of the cabinet was a huge freshly made tray of soap that was setting up, that fell last and was like the cherry on top of all the mess, splattered soap batter, about 8 pounds worth. ☹️ It was thousands of dollars worth of ruined materials and a overwhelming mess!
My sweet husband shines in situations like these. He came into the house like a knight in shining armor! He took control of the situation and started cleaning up and direction people of how they could help. When I looked at that mess, I was frozen, I didn't even know where to start!
It took a few hours but we got it cleaned up, (I say "we, but it was mostly him.) In a couple weeks time we had a new empty cabinet up on the wall. I was a bit traumatized at having lost my things so I took a break from creating. That didn't last long, except for one thing. I couldn't bring myself to buy more vanilla beans and alcohol to make more vanilla extract.
Well, I finally pulled up my big girl panties and decided to get back to it! And now, after 10 months of curing I introduce precious vanilla extract!!! I want to shout TA DA!
I know, it's a little over the top! Forgive me. Please don't be mad at me for sharing my story, I know many have lost everything in fires and floods. Truly I am grateful it was only one cabinet and only stuff.
