Finely thrown stoneware yarn bowl. This is made with an iron rich clay that creates dark speckles when fired at high temperature and it is glazed in a semi transparent turquoise ash glaze that lets the natural colour of the clay shine through. The ash glaze is an ecological way of creating pottery by reusing the waste product of my fireplace to make a glaze that has a lower ecological imprint. I use only natural materials to make my glazes, they're smooth and shiny and yes very uneven but that's part of their charm :) Yarn bowls are conceived so that you can put them on the ground with your yarn in it and the thread gets caught in the tiny wavy indentation I created so that you can pull on your yarn and it doesn't jump around your feet. My mum says it's a need if you like to knit, plus you can then put your needles and your work in progress in it (depending on the size of course) and everything looks tidy and pretty.
This one is pretty large so you can put several yarns in it if you work with two colours for example....
