Hand marbled texoprint paper is perfect for your scrapbooking or other crafting needs. Texoprint is a super durable paper that is difficult to rip and produces beautiful colors when marbled with acrylic paints. Use these colorful pages and scrapbook backgrounds or cutouts, or use them in other crafts such as card making, stamping, collages, calligraphy, and more!
Each page is hand made in my basement studio using the best marbling supplies available. As is the nature of hand made products, some small imperfections may appear on each page. It also means that each page is wonderfully unique, and no other page will ever look like the one you purchase!
Marbling by floating paints on the surface of a liquid is thought to have been developed in the 15th century in central Asia. Paint is speckled onto a mixture of water and carrageenan, then swirled across the surface using a combination of rakes and combs. The item you're marbling, whether paper, wood, or something else, is then placed face down on the surface and the paint is transferred to the item. This means that after each marbling, the paint has to be re-applied to the surface of the water/carrageenan mixture. Therefore, no two marbled prints are alike! Each one is completely unique, just like fingerprints.
I first learned how to marble paper out at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival while working at the Windrose Paper Mill. I quickly fell in love with the art, and purchased my own marbling supplies to have my own set up at home. Since then, I have expanded my marbling to other mediums including wood, leather, and mixed medium crafts.
Marbling is a part time activity for me, done outside of my full time job at a veterinary clinic. I am always joined by my 11 year old German Shepherd and 2 year old Alaskan Malamute, and two Maine Coon cats. My partner, and co-owner of this shop, also assists with marbling when he is not at his job as a web developer or making the bismuth crystals we also sell here.
*Paper used for marbling is 9½" x 12½" texoprint, which has a slight latex content. It is an industrial printing paper that does not tear easily and does not weaken when wet.
*Marbled wood crafts are painted with a solid acrylic color on the back for aesthetic purposes and sealed with Krylon UV-Resistant Clear Acrylic Coating
*Due to photo quality and monitor settings, colors may appear slightly different in person
*Each piece is individually hand marbled and no two patterns are exactly alike. Because of this, some small imperfections may appear on marbled items. Marbled paper may also have paint smudges on the back of the paper.
*If you are looking for marbled paper with particular colors and don't see any listed, please feel free to message the shop for a special request. I will do my best to help you with what you need!
*Every effort will be made to ship your item so it arrives safely and intact. Marbled papers will ship either rolled up in a tube or in a flat cardboard envelope. Wood items will be appropriately padded.
