Set of 2 Used Vintage Christmas Cards 1940, Die Cut, Log Cabin, Child's Card, Puppy, Mouse, Elephant, Duck, pre WWII era, Not Reproductions
Two fun finds for mixed media artists and scrapbookers!
1. The front of this adorable 1940 child's die-cut Christmas card show a puppy, mouse, duck and elephant popping out of a tissue-lined gift box, with the die-cut surrounding the figures. Opened, a mouse tying a bow on a red and white candy cane is on the left panel, and on the right is printed:
When Christmas comes I hope you may Have just the nicest time all day, And that you're happy as can be With the things Santa left 'round your tree!
On the back is written in pencil "CHARLIE" by a child, and in an adult hand, "Borrmann". This card measures 4 1/4" high by 3 1/2" wide and has remnants of the original scrapbook page from which it was removed.
2. This 1940 card has the look of a "colorized" black and white photograph of a snow-covered log cabin nestled in the woods. When the card is opened, the die-cut follows the outline of the tree line and reveals a meandering stream inside the card.
Printed is: Best Wishes for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
It's signed in fountain pen, "Margaret & Alfred Carrington". This card is 4 3/4" wide x 3 3/4" high. Printed on the back panel is, "created by Paramount" and "made in U.S.A.". This card has remnants of the original scrapbook page from which it was removed.
