Item details

These Bali 25mm Scrapbook Buttons were inspired by that special place that some call paradise, others the Island of the Gods.

Crafted for Indounik in Bali, Indonesia, these apple green-painted coconut shell buttons have been screenprinted with the word "Bali" in blue, reflecting the verdant tropical colours of the place.

They're ideal for scrapbooks, cards, wedding invitations and off the page projects such as the cover of my chipboard mini album (shown in first and last photos, but not included in your purchase).

Of course you can also put the buttons to more traditional use on cloth and knitted garments and accessories - such a crocheted bag - or use them for everything from barrettes to button jewelry.

You can safely throw items they adorn in a washing machine. The paint stays put and the buttons won't buckle.

PayPal is my preferred method of payment.

Shipping: These items will ship from Bali via Pos Indonesia registered mail with a tracking number and you will almost certainly have to sign for them on delivery.
Extra info: Due to varying monitor settings there may be slight differences between what you see on your screen and the actual colour. As they are hand-tooled, the surface of some tiles may be pitted or slightly roughly-hewn. Due to the detailed nature of the design, there may be slight flaws in the screenprinting of some buttons.

BACK STORY
Of the 17,000 islands that make up the vast Indonesian archipelago, one more than any other has become a world favourite destination. It is, of course, Bali.

We all have places in the heart and Bali has been mine for more than two decades. I lived in a little house in the ricefields north of Ubud, Bali's art and cultural capital, for much of 2006.

I hauled lots of scrapbook supplies from Australia and created to my heart's content. The Balinese don't know too much about scrapbooking but I always get a warm and wonderful response when I show them my well-travelled albums. My favourite is: "You make Bali look like paradise."

The world comes to Bali and as I've found over the years, there are plenty of kindred creative spirits among those visitors. So it seems like a good idea to share my treasures, not just with scrapbookers but with people making their own greeting cards, wedding invitations, jewellery, garments and accessories.

Enchanting, beguiling Bali. The eyes of the world turned to my lovely island getaway when Hollywood cast its spotlight on her in 2010 through Eat Pray Love, the movie based on Elizabeth Gilbert's best-selling book of the same name.

And the secret was out. The road to Bali is still experiencing a peak-hour rush from all those seekers of sun, surf, self-discovery, or serenity of soul. If you are one of the lucky ones who make the journey, and you want to scrapbook your unforgettable memories afterward, be sure to come back and see me here at Indounik.

Selamat scrapbooking!

Many years have passed since those summer days
Among the fields of Bali
See the children run as the sun goes down
Among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves
Upon the fields of Bali
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold

*Apologies to Sting who of course sang of "fields of barley". I know he'd understand.
