Item details

Raku fired Hawaiian blue pendant. It is approx 2" round, It will make a perfect focal bead for a beaded necklace or just displayed with ribbon, yarn or leather. This pendant was made by my friend Mudalicious.

***Raku is ancient Japanese method of firing pottery. The clay piece is taken from a gas kiln at 1800 to 1900 degrees. It is then placed in a pit or trash can with newspaper, sawdust or some other reduction material. The container is covered tightly and the piece is allowed to smoke for about 10 to 15 minutes. After the reduction has taken place, it is removed from the container and cooled quickly in cold water. Raku is for decorative uses only! It is not food safe due to the firing process, thus making it “Fine Art” and perfect for Jewelry.
