Item details

This beautiful Ernst Haeckel (1834 - 1919) illustration was printed in Germany on heavy weight stock with wonderful attention to detail. It is an original modern 2010 bookplate reprint of Haeckel's artwork from 'Monograph on Radiolarians', a collection of thirty-five copper plates published in 1862. Measures approx. 9 x 12 inch. Paper is heavy and has a gentle sheen. Excellent condition with very light marks on left side of the plate - you have to hold it really close to see them and it is reflected in the price, wonderful excellent quality paper, amazing detailed image - fascinating! You will love the plate!

This is the ORIGINAL from the book and will look beautiful when framed. The framed image is an example.

You can also scan it, copy it, resize for note cards, or give it as a gift. The Plates look beautiful in grouping, so take a look at my other prints - they choosen carefully to save and preserve for many years!

You will receive the original page, not a copy and it will be mailed carefully in a stay flat mailer to prevent bends or folds.

Ernst Heinrich Haeckel (1834-1919) was renowned as one of the foremost early exponents of Darwinism. His work was credited with having caused the acceptance of Darwinism in Europe, and his popular studies - preaching the continuity of all life, organic and inorganic, from prehistoric time to the present - converted tens of thousands of readers all over the world. Today his work is increasingly prized for something he himself would probably have considered secondary. These are the remarkable plates with which his work was illustrated, particularly his famous Kunstformen.
