How would you like a pattern that gives you 6 different ways to create it?
LOG CABIN AFGHAN in Patchwork Crochet
contains complete instructions & diagrams of 6 different Sets
The Set is the way the blocks are arranged to achieve the overall effect.
Included is a diagram of 6 different Sets.
The one in the picture is called Barn Raising
There are many ways to put the blocks together...Pick the one YOU like!
Finished size - about 67" x 83"
No. of Blocks = 80 ( 8 rows by 10 rows)
Materials: Sport yarn, about 2 & 3/4 lbs. each in 2 colors- light and dark colors
The story goes that the log cabin fire was in the center of the room. The light from the fire made one side of the room light, and the other side of the room dark. Hence, the Log Cabin blocks usually have half light, and half dark in each.
When you put them together, the effect of each set is totally different.
The colors used also determine where you can put your afghan.
Make it in soft pastel colors,in a smaller size, and it's perfect for babies, and you can match the nursery colors.
Make it bold and dramatic, or make it to go with your own antiques, or a contemporary lifestyle! Perfect for a Wounded Warrior project in patriotic colors!!
This is a take along project...make a block at a time. It's fun to see the colors go together.
Then you can play with the blocks. Arrange them in the rows, to see the set.
Re-arrange them to see another set. Have fun- let the kids help.
You can use a little piece of masking tape and write a number on each block...
Make a graph to arrange your blocks- according to the numbers. This is crochet by number - patchwork style!
You can also use your scraps to make it unique. A friend of mine is making afghans for Hospice patients.Another friend is making Wounded Warrior gifts for the VA Hospital patients.
A cosy afghan makes a wonderful gift!!
