Item details

This is a mega sized version of the Pony handbag. It has the cute styling but can handle a ridiculous amount of stuff – think beach bag for the whole family or travel bag for a weekend away. It has nice wide handles to take the heavy load on your shoulder and is fully lined with two internal pockets for keys and phone. The body of the bag measures 56cm high by 59cm wide (22" by 23"). The handles are roomy enough to put the bag on your shoulder (height of 28cm from top of bag – 11”) and are nice and wide to carry a heavy load.

This bag can be made in very little time (under 2 hours for someone who has sewn before) and can be a real showcase for a designer fabric. Even at this size, this design makes a great last minute gift but I just love it as a simple funky style to show off something gorgeous from my stash. It’s possible to add an extra two pockets if you wish, and if you use a pretty fabric as your lining the bag is also reversible. We do a lot of weekend trips to the coast so I would be lost without my trusty Overflow.

Apart from the obvious sewing basics the materials you'll need for this project are 125cm (50”) of a light weight fabric such as cotton homespun or poplin or a medium weight fabric like cotton drill or twill or even a lightweight upholstery fabric and 125cm (50”) in a light weight fabric like cotton poplin for the lining. All seam allowances have been included in the pattern pieces and are ¼” unless otherwise stated.

The pattern is supplied to you by email as two PDF files. One containing the instructions with colour pictures and tips to get you through. The other is a printer friendly file for the pattern itself. All pattern pieces have been carefully and accurately hand drawn with plenty of easy to read labelling. Just print on A4 or US Letter size paper and sticky tape the sheets together at the edges. These files are now available for instant digital download but I am still available to assist you at teapotandsnail [!at] gmail.com.

I am happy for you to sell your finished bags on Etsy as long as you credit Teapot & Snail as the designer on your page and do not mass produce the bag.
