Item details

Five handcast, lead-free, pewter flower buttons. This button was inspired by a medieval original and each button was cast individually into a hand-carved soapstone mold. They are what I like to call unique multiples, so they're each a little different, but all quite similar. Each button is 9/16" diameter, with a sturdy loop in back. The final picture indicates my new packaging.

There are two choices as to finish: you can either have the bright silver of the pewter, or I can blacken it slightly, using a non-toxic paint. The paint does not come off in the wash. If you do not specify a preference, you will receive the bright silver.

This button was based off a period pewter pin. I adapted it to button size and it changed fairly significantly in the carving. The original which inspired this piece was in the book Rotterdam Papers 12: Heilig en Profaan 2 (2001)
by H.J.E. van Beuningen, A.M. Koldewieg and D. Kicken
ISBN: 9090148817. Page 434, Afb. 1907 Inv. 2657. It dates from 1375-1425.

If you would like a different number of buttons, please convo me and I will set up a special listing with your quantity.
