In a time when nearly all cloth was made from wool, women used coins as templates to cut their leftover wool into circles, Then used them to make primitive and sometimes beautiful "Penny Rugs" to adorn their tables floors.
Believe it or not, but this is the size circle that I use the most often. Just for reference, the clock in the fourth photo uses one 3" circle, four 1-1/4" circles, and twelve 3/4" circles. The penny rug in the last photo uses 1-1/4" circles and 3/4" circles.
Penny Rugs, Wall Hangings, Mug Rugs, Tea Cozies, Table Toppers, Wool Broaches, Hair Accessories -- these are just a few suggestions for using these handy wool circles. All of the photos shown in this listing as well as all of the wool items in this Etsy store are made from the same stash of wools in this package.
This listing is for (50) 3/4" scrappy wool felt circles. These circles are hand cut using a 3/4" template from recycled felted wool clothing. They are perfect for wool penny rugs and other wool projects. Makes a great stash builder.
Because they are cut from clothing, a few of these circles still have interfacing on one side. I just leave it in when making my wool projects and it is not noticeable in the finished item.
