There is something magical about dragonflies. Everybody loves them. This pattern was designed because four people on my newsletter list had suggested it as a theme. Little did I know at the time that it would turn out to be my best selling pattern. It is easy and complex at the same time.
If you have never quilted before, there are six free videos on my website, www.critterpat.com that show you all the steps to making an appliqued quilt. The easy part of making this quilt is the actual applique. The dragonflies are fused to the background fabric with Lite Steam-A-Seam and then stitched with straight stitching and a darning foot. The flowers are hand beaded (Queen Anne's Lace or dandelions) or couched thread (thistle). The quilting is straight stitching using variegated thread echo-ing out from the designs. You can even sign your name with the darning foot.
The quilt is 24 inches square. the small size will not overwhelm you, and you will get it finished in record time. But don't stop there...The dragonflies by themselves look great on a sweat shirt sprinkled here and there in different batik fabrics. The designs are reusable.
This is a downloadable pattern through Etsy. If you don't have a printer or don't understand what a downloadable pattern is, order from the other listing for the Dragonflies pattern which is for a printed paper pattern that is mailed to you.
