This Georgian era corset pattern was created by me, Deb Salisbury, owner of The Mantua-Maker Historical Sewing Patterns.
This pattern includes 11 pages of instructions with historical tips, and 2 pattern sheets. It is printed on bond paper, and enclosed in a reclosable plastic bag. All sizes 2 – 24 are included. Bust size, in inches: 30 32 33.5 35 37 39 41 43 45.5 48 50.5 53
The removable busk *is* included. See details below.
To create the true Georgian silhouette, you need a firm pair of stays. This long corset is helpful with bust enhancement and abdomen reduction, and includes fully-boned or half-boned options.
The stays of this period were heavily boned to create the fashionable conical shape. When lightly boned (known as half boned), they were used for casual, leisure wear, and might be called corsets; unboned, they were worn privately, or when privately entertaining, and were called jumps.
You will also need boning to create this garment.
** 1500 - 1820 Hardwood Corset Busk **
This type of busk was used to keep the front of a back-opening corset or stays upright and stiff. It fits my Renaissance Quilted Pair of Bodies, my Georgian Stays, and my Regency Corset.
The hardwood busk is approximately 14” long, 1/8” thick, 1 3/4” wide at the top, and 1 1/8” wide at the bottom. All dimensions vary slightly.
I include one page of historical information with your busk. I didn’t make the busk, only the information sheet. My supplier didn’t tell me what type of wood it is – I suspect that varies with the batch.
Please read all instructions before touching your fabric. There are tips along the way to make your life easier!

FYI 1 - All instructions are in English.
FYI 2 - I do have a cat (allergy warning; my cat has such fine fur I find stray hairs in places he could *never* get to!) but he has little contact with my patterns. My home is smoke-free, but vintage books and trim may carry their own distinctive odors.
