Now available on Etsy ... Instant Download for the popular Donegal Cap!

In looking for some additional hat styles for baby boys, I went searching for a pattern for this type of newsboy hat with the pinched front … aka Jeff cap, driving cap, golf cap, scally cap ... I call it a Donegal cap because of our family ties to County Donegal, Ireland.

Since I couldn’t find a pattern that would allow me to sell the hats online, I decided that I would use my crocheting expertise to design my own hat … and the Donegal cap was born. You may sell items made from this pattern but not the pattern itself. Please see the copyright notice for specific information.

In thanks for the success of the Donegal Cap Crochet for babies up to 24 months, the pattern sizes now includes:

Infant Newborn to 3 months
Infant 3 to 6 months
Infant 6 to 12 months
Toddler 12 to 24 months
Children 2 to 4
Children 4 to 6
Preteen/Adult Small
Adult Medium/Large

In the form of an eBook, the Donegal Cap Pattern features, a page index, separate and complete directions for each size and photographs.

This listing is for the PDF Crochet Pattern for the Donegal Cap. If interested in purchasing a finished cap, please see the separate listing in my shop.

Bonus: the Donegal Cap Stitch Count Chart
When I use a pattern frequently, I find that I don’t need to refer to the pattern as much but I sometimes need to double check the number of stitches on certain rounds/rows. I have developed a Stitch Count Chart that will summarize the number of stitches by round/row and by size. It is a quick glance chart that will keep you on track but doesn’t give you the step-by-step directions you will find in the pattern. Give it a try!

The crochet pattern is in a PDF format and you will need to have Adobe to open the downloaded file. For more information on Adobe, go to www.adobe.com

PDF pattern files are not returnable. If you have purchased a pattern in error, please contact me immediately as once a pattern has been emailed, there is no refund due to the nature of electronic transmissions.

The beautiful photographs are by Samantha Furst Photography (samanthafurst@gmail.com) in Minneapolis, MN. The five-month old baby is wearing the Donegal Cap in spa blue fleck in size 3 to 6 months.
