Thank you for your interest in our farmstead fiber products.
I love to prepare fibers by hand, so working with our sheep and their special wool is a labor of love. This is an offer not only from me, but from our sheep too. I love hand spinning, knitting, crochet, and felting, thus almost fifteen years ago I became a shepherdess too! I began by raising Babydoll Southdown and crossbred sheep with wool that we had made into a very special farm yarn in natural colors. Today our flock is focused on the beautiful Icelandic sheep breed. Already we have 20 and growing! Your purchase from this Etsy shop helps the sheep on our farm get not just the basic care, but receive their much-deserved royal treatment too! Handwork is definitely a treat for me and I hope you’ll feel that way when you play with our fibers too!
This is our Babydoll Southdown Sheep yarn. 100% wool from our Olde English Babydoll Southdowns with a bit of Finn/Rambouillet/Dorset mixed in. It has a soft handle and either a natural Chocolate Heather Brown or warm pearly white--no dyes. This was milled to a heavy weight but feels similar to worsted. Springy and squishy. This is a yarn that can stand up to the weather. Would make great gifts like fast knitting and crocheting hats, mittens, and scarves.
Even though this yarn resists felting, I still suggest hand wash and hang to dry fabric care.
Available in two natural colors: off-white and chocolate. This offer is for the off-white yarn. Approximately 165 yards for $16 per skein. See our other listings for the chocolate heather brown color of Babydoll yarn.
