The listing is a delightful page from “Anatomy of Humans” published in 1991. An illustration showing the muscles of the outer side of the upper part of the leg and on the reverse side of the page is an illustration showing the muscles of the front and back of the upper part of the leg (shown in the second photo). Flaxman's original chalk drawings were faithfully copied by Henry Landseer, who engraved them, using mezzotint for the shaded areas. Flaxman was more concerned with pose than with details, although his figures were drawn from life, they reflect his own neo-classical style in sculpture more than they do a precise, scientific reality.
The publishers reproduced drawing is printed on very fine and heavy paper and is perfect to frame or use in a special art project. It will be shipped in a bend proof mailer.
