Vortigern is a two-ply sport weight yarn that I spun on my Golding lightweight drop spindle from Angora tufts lovingly collected by the nice folks at the Honeybuns Rabbitry and Apiary in New Hampshire.
The color is a soft purple, or mauve. It has the look of a kettle-dyed yarn, as there is some variance in the color saturation throughout the skein.
This skein is next-to-skin soft. In fact, it's pure luxury. When a pattern calls for a mohair yarn like Rowan's Kid Silk Haze, my choice is usually to use a lovely angora like this. It feels a lot nicer next to my very sensitive skin. If you've never experienced knitting with a handspun angora yarn, do be aware that there are some key differences between handspun and mill spun angora. Handspun angora isn't brushed like mill spun, so you won't see the lovely halo that angora and mohair are known for right away. Don't worry, it will appear over time as you work with this yarn. Also, due to not being brushed, handspun angora does not shed nearly as much as mill spun angora.

Shipping & policies
I ship via USPS, usually first class with delivery confirmation. If you require overnight shipping or any other special service, please contact me. All orders are shipped within three days of receipt of payment. I may not be held responsible for any items lost during shipping (as long as I am able to provide you with proof of shipping). You are responsible for any taxes or fees levied by your country.
I accept credit cards, paypal, and money orders. All items are shipped after I have received payment from you, so if you choose to mail me a money order, shipping will be delayed until after it has been cashed.
All sales are final unless there is a problem with the product. I am happy to work with you to make you happy, so please contact me with any concerns that you have. Please be aware that the last few yards of a yarn may not be consistent with the rest of it (only 2 plies on a 3 or more ply yarn, for example), and this is not a defect. I just opt to include that end bit just in case you need just a few more inches in order to finish binding off. That yardage is not included in the yardage count for the yarn. Unfortunately, discovery that a particular yarn isn't the best choice for the project that you had in mind does not qualify it for a refund.
Returns & exchanges
All sales are final and refunds are not available. All of my products are carefully inspected before they are shipped to you. Please contact me if you have a problem. I will work with you to make you happy.
It has been brought to my attention that some people may be concerned that my yarns and other products are frequently photographed on plants. If you are allergic to pollen or some other outside thing that you fear may have attached itself to a product, please contact me. I will gladly rewash any yarn in wool wash for you before shipping. Please understand that due to drying time, this may add a few days of delay to shipping.
If you leave a note with your order, I am happy to wind any yarn into a center-pull cake for you. Do be aware that this may not be the greatest idea for any slippery yarn (like silk) as sometimes the cakes can get a bit tangled during the shipping process. I can also wind the yarn into a ball (just not center pull) for you.
