Hugh Thomson was one of the most popular and successful book illustrators of the Victorian era. He was born in Ireland in 1860, where his skills as an illustrator were recognized when he was still a teenager. He moved to England, where he worked for MacMillan & Co. from 1883 and on, illustrating all six of Jane Austen’s novels and other literary classics. By 1900 he had become one of the most popular illustrators of his time. He died in 1920.
I recently came across an illustrated copy of Pride and Prejudice, featuring Hugh Thomson's fabulous (Public Domain) pictures. Would you believe there are 44 in this set? Such a tremendous amount of work-- and now those famous images can be yours! Perfect for scrapbooking, card making, websites, clip art and more. I have scanned these images as printable jpgs, though they are various sizes due to their size on the original page. You can see a sample of the images in the second picture. The third picture is a sample of some cards made with this clip art. The color images measure 300 dpi and average 1500x1600 ppi. The B/W images vary in size due to their placement in the book.
Shipping is free, as I will email a zipped file of the images. Check my other listings for additional images from Pride and Prejudice, both full color and a black and white alphabet!
