Item details

Although the tulip is now associated with the Netherlands, it was in the Ottoman Empire that commercial cultivation of this flower began. The tulip was seen as a symbol of abundance and indulgence and the period of time that is considered the wealthiest for the Ottoman Empire is often called the Tulip era.
