Buy 1/2 ounce of Texas Blue Bonnet Seeds now and scatter them where you want them to bloom next year. Here in zone 8 I have scattered them anytime between May and October. Make sure that you scatter them where they will come in contact with soil. Don't mulch over them. Some of my seeds will begin to grow immediately. Others will sprout at different times. They will continue to grow through the winter and bloom in the spring. Because the seed coat is hard, not all seeds will germinate the same year. As the seed coat wears away, the seed will germinate taking between 15- 75 days. According to TxDot, some may take up to two years to germinate. Your Bluebonnets will develop a heavy root system during the winter. This will produce a sturdy plant that will support an abundance of spring flowers.
Texas Bluebonnet Seeds are sold by the half ounce. When you scatter them, don't cover them with soil or mulch. When they bloom, don't mow down your Bluebonnets while the seeds are maturing in their seedpods.
You can scatter your seeds during the summer through the winter.
Zones: 3-8 Full Sunlight 12-24" Well drained soil Drought tolerant Successful germination of Bluebonnet Seeds depends on many important grower skills; such as, proper planting time, seed depth, type of soil, watering, light intensity, soil conditions, and reasonable weather during the growing period. These factors are totally out of the sellers control, and germination and growing results are the buyer's responsibility and risk.
