Item details

This is a PDF SEWING PATTERN that available for immediate download, NOT a finished product! You will be able to download the pattern from Etsy after payment is completed. The PDF is 8 pages long and includes step-by-step directions with pictures and preparation and construction tips, in addition to the pattern itself.

the evening envelope clutch
========================
This little clutch is the perfect compliment to both fancy evening wear and stylish daytime outfits. It looks just as great in silk as it does in denim!

finished dimensions
========================
The envelope clutch lies flat at 11" wide and 6" tall. It has a flap with optional piping, a magnetic snap closure, and a 7.5" wide interior pocket.

Check out this *free tutorial* on my blog about how to easily adjust the size of this clutch for a totally different look! http://www.blog.hollandcox.com/2011/09/wear-it-this-weekend-diy-envelope-clutch/

skill level
=======================
The evening envelope clutch is perfect for beginners, but fun for more experienced sewers as well. The pattern includes clear instructions on how to insert a magnetic snap, and how to make custom piping. The pattern can be easily adapted to create a larger or smaller clutch.

suggested fabrics
=======================
Medium-weight evening fabrics with some body, like silk or poly blend brocade, damask, shantung, taffeta or dupioni would be great choices for the outside (or "self") fabric. Silky and thin, but slightly stiff fabrics meant for window treatments are perfect for this clutch. Use the same fabric or something slightly lighter weight for the lining.

Avoid fabrics that are sheer, stretchy, knit, drapey, slippery, heavyweight, or with pile like velvet or faux fur.

materials needed
=======================
- 1/2 yard of self fabric and 1/2 yard of lining fabric
- 1 yard of lightweight fusible interfacing (I like Pellon brand Shape-Flex SF 101)
- optional: 20" length of 5mm cord and 1/2 yard of fabric for piping on view A
- magnetic snap
- scrap of felt
- basic sewing supplies + a zipper foot

Additional policies

I am very happy to do custom orders, especially for brides and their parties! The only custom work that I cannot do at this time is draft new, original patterns for individual customers. However, if you would like an item listed in the shop (or one you have seen at one of my craft shows/trunk shows), but in a specific color/fabric, then let's chat and make it happen!
