Item details

This item is a PATTERN for a crocheted amigurumi cat, and does not include an actual cat.

The pattern includes step-by-step instructions to make an amigurumi cat in the sitting position. In this pattern, the head and body are crocheted in one piece, eliminating the often awkward task of sewing on the head. The pattern is suitable for a beginning to intermediate crocheter.

Stitches you will need to complete this project:
Ch, sl st, sc, as well as increase stitches (2sc) and decrease stitches (sc2tog)
Pattern is written using US/American crochet terminology

Materials you will need:
Size G crochet hook
2 10mm cat safety eyes
1 black or pink 8mm safety nose
Worsted weight yarn in one or many colors
Stuffing

*Pattern is in PDF format, available for immediate download via Etsy's digital file system.

I am available through email or on Etsy to answer questions or provide pattern help if needed.
Also, I'm on Ravelry, so if you make the cats, add your project to the Ravelry project page. I'd love to see what you come up with!

Colorwork notes are now included as a second digital file download. They include guideline-type instructions on which stitches should be white for a white-pointed marking on the cat's head (it includes a brief bit on how to change colors, though an internet search is your friend if you don't know how to change or carry your colors yet). White-tipped toe/foot guidelines are also included.

Note: I am calling these guidelines because you might want only one row of white for tiny toe-points of color, or you might want the color to go halfway up the legs, so I have explained which color (main color or second color) to start with, how to make the color change, and how many rows of the second color I did, but everything is written so that it is easy to make your own custom-colored animal. If you are a beginner, it may be a good idea to make a cat in a plain color while you get used to the pattern, and make a second color-worked version afterwards.

The pattern was written out in a way that was confusing at first... I had to really keep track of all the sc's LOL. But once I got going on the pattern, I understood the reason for the way it's written. Just a tip, underline with a pencil each stitch (on your paper) as you go, it helps keep track ;). Overall, very cute pattern and the results were great!
