Item details

The postman legend of why the Robin is so popular at Christmas is that in Britain, postmen used to wear red tunics and were popularly known as “robins”. As a result many early Christmas cards pictured a robin knocking at the door or carrying a Christmas card in its beak.

This pattern is worked both in the round and in rows and I use abbreviations according to US crochet language. I can provide the pattern in UK crochet language if preferred, please just contact me.

The finished Robin is approximately 3.25” (8.5cm) tall and 4.25” (10.5cm) long. The robin would make a wonderful table or mantle-piece decoration or would be ideal for perching on a branch on the Christmas tree.

Tools Needed:
3.5mm (US size E) crochet hook
yarn needle

Yarn Needed:
DK acrylic yarn in brown, white, red and tan brown.

Other Materials Needed:
polyester/toy stuffing
1 pair of 5mm black safety eyes
very small piece of brown felt
15cm (6”) pipe-cleaner (preferably brown)

If you need any help or advice please feel free to contact me.

This pattern is for personal use only.
