Item details

Patra Taluh Kakul is the traditional Balinese motif featured on this unusual carved bone hairstick bead.

The bead was developed for use on hair sticks and is drilled from the base through to the opening of the central circle only, as illustrated in the accompanying photos. Please note that it is not drilled all the way through to the top of the bead.

The hole size is 1.5mm.

It was crafted for me in Bali where the local people have an amazing eye for detail. This pattern – or patra - with its spirals is based on the tiny eggs from a snail that inhabits their ricefields.

This bead is exclusive to Indounik and you won't find it anywhere else but here in my Etsy shop.

PayPal is my preferred method of payment if it's possible and convenient for you.

Size: Approx 22m (L) x 23mm (W) across the top of the decorative motif and 22mm (W) across the base of the bead
Thickness: Approx 4mm at the thickest part, the base
Pieces per pack: 1
Colour: Off-white or ivory
Material: Bovine bone - cow bone, partially drilled from the base with a 1.5mm hole. The bone used in Indounik products is sourced from the neighbouring island of Java where it's a bi-product of the meat industry.
Shipping: This item will ship from Bali via Pos Indonesia registered mail with a tracking number, and you will almost certainly have to sign for it on delivery. It will be well packaged to protect it in transit, and the cost of the pack is included in the shipping fee.
Extra info: Please note that this piece is not drilled all the way through to the top of the bead. It is intended to be used at the top of a hair stick or the bottom of a pendant.

If you are planning for a year, sow rice; if you are planning for a decade, plant trees; if you are planning for a lifetime, educate people.” ~ Chinese proverb
