Item details

Lovely, stylized "kiku" [chrysanthemum] flowers float on a feathery background. This Japanese paper is perfect for invitations, menus, resumes, scrapbooking, card making and endless craft projects!

5 sheets of 8.5"x11"

Most of these machine-made papers have a subtle pattern, either printed or created by the addition of surface fibres to a dyed woodpulp base. Inclusions are completely embeded yet remain on the surface leaving the paper smooth and printer friendly. Printable on most laser printers and copiers. Inkjets will occasionally bleed over the surface fibres. We recommend testing all papers before printing.

Swatch colours may vary slightly on different computer screens... if possible, I can combine shipping on larger orders.

Please contact me for additional quantities.

I stock only quality papers and will be happy to answer any questions.

Important note on quality!!
There are now several manufacturers who replicate Chiyogami using offset printing, a mechanical printing method used to produce large volumes of printed materials at low cost. Usually these papers have most colour layers applied at once, and then the gold detailing is added separately to make it look more authentic.

I stock ONLY the original, hand-silkscreened papers. I believe in the beauty and quality that comes with the handmade print, and support the manufacturers who take the time and effort to continue the tradition. While they may cost a little more, they are worth the difference. I have however seen the lesser quality paper sold at the same if not more than the original!

How can I recognize the real thing?
Intense colour and resistance to fading. The pigment-based inks used in authentic Chiyogami create a distinctively intense colour that stands up well to fading and use.

Colour layers. You can often see or feel the different layers of colour applied on the base sheet.

Paste residue. On the back of each sheet of genuine Chiyogami you will often find a harmless paste residue. This comes from the papers being temporarily pasted to boards as they travel from one colour station to the next.
