Item details

Teddy bear crochet pattern creates a very special toy. The crocheted fabric is both textured and durable. The head of the bear is sized to snuggly fit a 1.5” diameter rattle insert. When stuffed with polyester fibrefill, it is very light for small hands.

This piece is worked in 8 pieces: 2 ears, head, snout, body, 2 arms, 2 legs. This toy is crocheted “in the round” and in a continuous spiral. A stitch marker, such as a piece of contrasting yarn placed at either the beginning or the end of the round can help keep track of each round. The round stitch count (number of stitches in the round) is given in brackets at the end of most rounds. Stuff as you go. Finish this toy by sewing together the pieces and embroidering eyes.

1. This pattern is written in clear, North American terms.

2. Stitches Used: Bobble Stitch (Bo), chain (ch), popcorn stitch (pc), single crochet (sc), single crochet decrease (sc2tog), slip stitch (sl st)

3. Instructions given for all stitches

4. The pattern is sized to fit a 1.5" diameter rattle insert in the head of the doll. There are some available for sale in The Silver Hook Etsy shop- TheSilverHook.etsy.com.

Approximate Measurements: 5 inches (14 cm) tall

The toy pictured was made with worsted weight (size 4) acrylic yarn from Red Heart, however you can use any size yarn (will affect final size) or any type yarn. The Silver Hook likes to use acrylic yarn for babies since it is stain resistant and durable yarn.
