It's very difficult to find sweaters long enough to fit a miniature dachshund. With our little Lena as my muse, I have designed a collection of knitted sweaters and dresses for this adorable breed. This is Lena's "Walk-in-the-Forest" sweater which was inspired by our city's Eucalyptus forest park walking trail. I wanted a sweater that would keep Lena warm and cozy on cool days and chose a color that would look great when she's walking through the forest. Of course you can choose any color you prefer! It's made with worsted weight yarn.
The sweater is a simple knit, using ribbing and the seed stitch. The front and back sections are knitted separately and invisibly seamed together with the mattress stitch (or any stitch you prefer). It boasts a ribbed turtle neck and ribbed bottom edge. The ribbed sleeves are knit in the round with double pointed needles, but if you prefer, you can skip that and instead, single crochet an edging around the arm holes with a crochet hook size F or G.
Chest Circumference: 16 inches (Fits dog with chest circumference 15’ to 18”)
Length 15 inches with collar folded in half to form a 2” turtle neck (from nape of neck to
shortly before start of tail)
