The Big Ruffle Scarf is worked in garter stitch with a knitted-on ruffle edging. The scarf is a long thin triangle; wide in the middle to keep your neck warm and with thin ends. It can be worked in one colour or with a contrast colour ruffle.
It is worked on a 12mm circular needle to accommodate the large number of stitches and the thick yarn. It knits up really quickly.
One colour scarf: 200g (approx 174yd/160m) of Rowan Big Wool.
Two colour scarf: 200g of main colour and 100g ball of contrast colour.
Any similar super chunky weight yarn can be used instead; this weight of yarn usually has a tension of 7 to 8 sts and 10 to 12 rows to 10cm (4in) measured over stocking stitch using 12mm needles.
168cm (67in) long and 18cm (7in) at widest point.
Cast on, knit, purl, sl 1-k1-psso (diagram included), sl 2-k1-psso, yo (increase).
