Argus made beautiful cameras, making them a desirable personal commodity Way Back When. This particular camera was produced by them from 1935 to 1941, right here in the USofA. This is a cool little unit, with its art deco bakelite body and chromed-up telescoping lens (one little turn and it pops right out, ready for action!). It has all its original parts, and every one of them moves freely and functions well. Features an f/4.5 Anastigmat lens and Ilex Precise shutter.
I love the little art deco metal back plate, which comes off altogether by design. I haven't film tested this camera, but overall it's in great antique shape and probably needs a good deep cleaning by someone better equipped than me to do something like that. >:o)
The unit comes with the original solid leather case (not pictured, but I can send some over to you if needed), which is in good shape overall but needs some needlework where the stitches have given up the ghost.
This is a beautiful decor piece, but it takes 35mm film, and it'd be some kind of cool to shoot with if you want to pull it off the bookshelf from time to time.
