Step 1: Line up your stones
Line up your quartz points so your largest stones are in the center and smallest stones are on the ends.
Tip: Be sure to line up your crystals based on the length from the hole down, rather than the total length. This will ensure that everything remains lined up once you string them onto wire.
Step 2: Cut wire and add crimp tubes
Use flush wire cutters to cut 24 in. / 61 cm of wire. Next, thread on 2 crimp tubes.
Step 3: Add a lobster clasp and close crimp tubes
Next, slide on a lobster clasp. Thread the end of the wire back through the crimp beads. Pull the first crimp tube up to the lobster clasp. Flatten using the opening closest to the handles on your crimp pliers. Next, use the opening farthest away from the handles on your crimp pliers to round out the flattened tube so it’s a tighter, smaller crimp. Repeat on the second crimp tube.
Step 4: Add quartz points and seed beads
Before you start adding your quartz points, string on 2-3 seed beads. Next, add the quartz points from the arrangement you lined up in Step 1. Separate each quartz point using 1-2 seed beads. Continue adding quartz points and seed beads until your necklace reaches your desired length (being mindful that the chain will add a few inches). When you're finished adding quartz points, string on 2-3 seed beads to mirror the opposite end.
Step 5: Add crimp beads and chain
To finish your necklace, add 2 crimp tubes to the end of the wire and thread on your 3 in. / 8 cm. piece of chain. Next, string your wire back through the crimp beads and through several of your quartz points and seed beads. Pull the end of the wire so it’s taut.
Step 6: Flatten crimp tubes and trim
Use your crimp pliers to flatten both crimp tubes as you did in Step 3. Trim excess wire.
