Identifying your bag is easy with a distinctive DIY bag charm. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to tie a figure-eight knot, transforming rope and hardware into a nautical knot charm perfect for identifying your luggage as it comes down the baggage claim carousel. Lighter
 

Step 1: Prepare cord

Use a measuring tape to measure 20 in. / 50 cm. of 5 mm. synthetic rope. Cut.
 

Step 2: Seal rope ends

Quickly burn each end of your rope using a lighter (and caution!). This will help prevent fraying.
 

Step 3: Add clasp

Thread the clasp onto your rope. Join the rope ends, so that your rope is folded in half.
 

Step 4: Form a figure-eight knot

Holding both ends of your rope together, create a figure-eight knot by taking your rope ends...

Over, and through the bottom loop.
 
Adjust rope and pull to tighten.
 

Step 5 (Optional): Add end caps

Fill end caps with a small amount of glue. Twist rope into the end cap. Remove excess glue and let dry.
