Protect your glasses from getting scratched – and put a length of decorative trim to good use – with this unique DIY case. To make, fold trim in half and use basic hand stitches to sew up the edges. The decorative cord and button serve as finishing touches, and they’ll help keep glasses tucked safely inside. Ready to make this? Scroll on for more detailed directions.

You will need

Step 1: Hem trim ends

Fold over 1 in. / 2.5 cm. of trim onto itself and straight stitch across. Repeat on the other side.

Step 2: Sew on a button

Sew the button onto the front side of the trim. Make sure it’s centered and about 1 in. / 2.5 cm. from the top.

Step 3: Wrap cord ends

Gather the ends of your cord and wrap with thread.

Step 4: Attach cord to opposite side from button

Flip trim around so you’re looking at the backside. Place cord loop on the opposite side of your trim from where the button is sewn on. Make sure the loop is centered. Sew it on so all sides are secure.

Step 5: Stitch up the sides

Now you’re ready to sew the sides of your glasses case. To do this, fold trim in half and sew up the long sides using a blanket stitch.

All done!
