Ash & Acorn (formerly Squirrel's Spot) got started as a way for me to make a little extra cash in college. I sold a couple pairs of foot jewelry, but otherwise it languished until after I graduated and got married. At the same time, I converted to Eastern Orthodox Christianity and discovered the rich artistic and crafting traditions that have been passed down through the centuries. My husband and I were on a tight budget for our wedding, and I had my eye set on a beautiful set of crowns that I found online. Unfortunately, we couldn't really afford them, so I decided to make my own (along with almost everything else!), and was hooked.
Recently I've been teaching myself beading, and have made textile and beaded crowns and candles the focus of my shop. Every time I make a pair of crowns or candles I think about the people who will use and cherish them. The knowledge that I am able, in some small way, to contribute to a special event in a person's life both inspires and humbles me.

Please make your payment within 48 hours of making your purchase. Items will not be shipped until I have your payment.
USPS SHIPPING METHODS:
All of my CROWNS and CANDLES ship Priority mail, which includes a tracking number and $50.00 insurance.
ALL OTHER ITEMS ship regular parcel post.
If you would like rush shipping, or insurance or a tracking number on regular parcel post, please contact me before purchase. The post office may not allow smaller items of mail to be tracked.
I am happy to get shipping estimates for international customers.
To save you money, and do my little bit towards "saving the earth," I sometimes re-use boxes, packing paper and newspaper for shipping out items, and scrap paper for shipping labels. Be assured that I only use clean, sturdy materials for this purpose.
DAMAGE TO ITEM IN MAIL
I cannot be held responsible for damage that occurs while the item is in the mail. If insurance was purchased for your package, please save the information, the package and the item and take photos if possible, so a claim can be filed. If your item was lost in the mail, please notify me so that we can work to rectify the situation.
INCORRECT ADDRESS OR OTHER INFORMATION
I ship to the address listed on Paypal, and cross-check it with Etsy. It is YOUR responsibility to make sure that your address on Etsy and Paypal are correct. If Paypal cannot confirm your address, I may contact you in a convo asking that you double-check the information, and will wait until you reply to ship the item.
If a package is returned to me because of an incorrect address:
-If the error was mine (for instance, in copying out the shipping label), I will gladly re-ship the item or give a full refund...
-If item was ready-made, I can re-ship the item. The customer will need to pay for shipping again. Alternatively, I can keep the item for re-sale and refund the price of the item--but not shipping costs.
-Customized items will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis. I can re-ship the item, and the customer will have to pay for shipping again. If I believe that I may be able to re-sell the item, I may refund a percentage of item price--but not shipping--and keep the item for re-sale.
