The accidental woodworker.
I have always had a love of woodwork, and a fascination with the creative process behind every wood shop.
For the first 18 years of my adult life, I worked in kitchens, and behind the bar. Throughout my time in the service industry, I always wondered why our equipment was so cheap and flimsy. It seemed to me that the basic tools of a kitchen could be handmade, and crafted to last a couple lifetimes. About 3 years ago, I found myself in a position to create just such tools. Using a borrowed wood lathe, I began creating my line of french rolling pins. All my pins are substantial, and make working with tough doughs a breeze. Why work hard when you can let the weight of the wood do the work for you.
I have since branched out into other wood turnings, such as bowls and spoons. I have also become fascinated with LED lighting and making a line of turned pendant lights, that shed significant light, while using very little power, and generating very little heat.
I am always up for a challenge, so if you have a project or idea that you think my skills would help you bring to life, please let me know. Perhaps we can work together to bring your idea to life.
I've spent much of my life working in the foodservice industry. Recently, a twist of fate has led me down another road. I've always been fascinated by woodworking, with a specific interest in the lathe.
