Making Pretty Things That Make People Happy
Conrad has always been interested in design and fabrication with metal and stone. Early in his life, this took the form of working on fast cars and motorcycles. At that age, he had a bit of a penchant for getting into trouble, so the offer of a job selling stone, along with the opportunity to learn the jewelry arts on the side, may or may not have saved him from a life of crime. His business has undergone several shifts over the years, his flexibility allowing him to weather the changes in the jewelry industry including decline in material availability and competition from overseas. He continues to enjoy working with metal and stone on all levels and at all scales. His favorite jewelry designs are contemporary, although he has over the years acquired experience working in a variety of styles. He also has an interest in sculpting stone, particularly for use in sustainable home and landscape design.
Conrad's focus on Etsy is on pairs and sets of stones, as these are difficult both to make and to find. He enjoys interpreting his clients' needs and is willing to take custom orders (contact him to discuss).
Conrad applies his 4 decades of experience to make each stone the best it can be. If it does not meet his exacting standards, it will be rejected, despite any impact that may have on profit. He is constantly searching for new and better ways to enhance and maximize the beauty of the material he is working with, whether that be metal or stone. His refined aesthetic combines the best of modern and ancient technique.
Lives in Albuquerque, where his 12 animal friends are his main source of joy and inspiration. Over 4 decades experience in the jewelry industry. Also interested in sustainable building and would like to branch out into custom furniture and sculpture.
