We are a wife, husband, toddler, and baby team who design and create everything in our shop from scratch and to order from our cozy little home studio.
Our goals for EmpireSquid Organics are to bring you intelligently designed products made from only organic and all natural ingredients without any hidden chemical funk.
We take pride in both our products and our customer service and enjoy answering questions or helping should you need guidance when it comes to choosing the correct product for your particular skin care needs.
Our primary focus is on our ingredients and our customers. An important part of this focus is sourcing ingredients and packaging that are both good for our bodies and good for the Earth. Since what you put on your body will be absorbed into your body we feel it's incredibly important to use simple, natural, minimally processed ingredients.
All of our skin products are comprised entirely of naturally sourced ingredients, mostly organic, and we will never add any artificial anything to any of our items. We use no animal products or by-products, with the exception of the organic beeswax found in some of our items, which can be substituted out when requested with vegan wax.
The great majority of the ingredients we use are certified organic, however due to pricing and availability, not everything is. Either way, all ingredients will be clearly stated on each product page. We don't use the term 'organic' lightly; Every ingredient we list as organic is certified organic by our suppliers.
We use glass bottle and jars or aluminum tins to house our creations and your purchases will come to you in recyclable packaging.

Custom and Personalized Orders
Since we make all of our products to order, we can easily fulfill your custom requests. Just contact us if you need to omit or change any of the ingredients in one of our goodies; We make minor and major customizations for our customers all the time.
Warm Weather and Melted Butters
Our completely natural facial and body butters may liquefy in hot (over 85 F) environments. Liquefaction will in no way harm your lotion, and simply tossing it in the fridge for a night or two will bring it back to its intended texture. Please keep in mind that shipping to or through hot climates, particularly in the summer months, may result in a liquefied lotion.
Gift Wrapping and Packaging
While we do not offer gift-wrapping, per se, your goodies will come neatly wrapped in a simple cardboard box (or USPS Flat-Rate box for large orders) hand stamped with our unique, and kinda funky, custom-made stamps.
If you'll be shipping your purchase as a gift, we can include a handwritten note - simply let us know exactly what you'd like the note to say: contact us through an Etsy convo, or leave us a note during checkout in the "Note to EmpireSquid" box. There is no charge for this.
We use fresh, all natural ingredients with no artificial preservatives added to any of our creations. Most listings will include the estimated shelf life for each individual product: typically between 3-6 months.
We use fresh, natural raw ingredients which we order on a monthly basis. Our products are a bit like fresh food: use 'em or lose 'em.
For the majority of our items, which are completely oil based with no added water (our toners & washes are exceptions to this), the product may begin to develop an 'old oil' smell if used beyond its shelf life due to oxidation of the oils. It will still be perfectly usable, but may not smell so great. Mold will only occur if water is accidentally introduced into the product container during use.

Since we make everything to order, and thus don't have a large batch to simply scoop out a bit from, it's not really feasible for us to offer samples of our handmade products. We do get asked for samples quite a bit, and we certainly understand why, but they're simply not something we can offer while keeping our shop handmade to order and easily customizable, which is important to us.

Does EmpireSquid Have Sales?
We do, occasionally, send out coupon codes to our newsletter subscribers as a thank you for being an awesome SquidLetter devotee! You can sign up on our Facebook page or at our website at EmpireSquid.com
But in general, we do our best to keep our everyday prices as low as we can, while still paying the bills (ingredients, fees, packaging, Etsy advertising, and such) and paying ourselves a reasonably fair amount for the time we put into our shop. We prefer to avoid typical sales gimmicks.
Returns & Exchanges: Detailed
We stand by our products and want you to be happy with your experience with our shop.
If you are not happy with any of our handmade skincare products for any reason, simply contact us to arrange an exchange or return for the full price of the product, shipping excluded.
For opened, mostly unused bottles of essential oils or carrier oils, we can offer a 50% refund.
Any mistakes made on our end will be completely refunded or exchanged, shipping included.
For any issues, please contact us within 14 days and ship items back within 30 days of delivery.

Cancellation Requests Made Over 2 Hours After Purchase
We make everything in our shop to order just for you once you've made your purchase. And we typically do this soon after your order is made so we can ship your goodies quickly.
For cancellation requests made more than 2 hours after purchase, a 35% fee will be assessed since we can not simply restock the handmade order we created for you.
If we haven't made your order yet, we're happy to refund the complete purchase price with no fee.
Does EmpireSquid Offer Wholesale Pricing
No. As we make everything to order and don't mark our prices up enough to offer true (~50% off) wholesale pricing. We can, and do, offer limited discounts to larger orders for resale purposes - typically for small boutique and artisan shoppes.
