In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia...
There's a little green studio with a red door, situated behind a small house on a foothill known as Bull Run Moutain. This is the studio my husband built, and it's where I work.
I used to have a day job working in design. I commuted 4 hours every day and it seemed like I was never home. Now I'm almost always home, and this is much better.
When I was growing up, my dad would think of this idea or that, and say, "That's a business!" His way of looking at things, combined with my mom's willingness to take me to art class or give me an extra quarter so I could make one more craft in the park made me the "maker" I am today. (My home town had a program where kids could go once a week to the school playground or neighborhood park and make a craft. Looking back, I see that was so, so awesome).
My shop is like the most-fun riddle or puzzle to me; I'm constantly thinking on new things to make, or how I can make the things I've already designed better. I happily take requests, that's also part of the fun!
Thank you for visiting, very much. ✿
