The Story Behind Kat's Country Prims
I was the girl, who in High School, failed home economics. More specifically, sewing class. I hated making clothing...and what I was making, I SURE was NOT ever going to wear. It was a train wreck to put it mildly. I knew, at that moment, that I would never be a Donna Karan or Kimora Lee Simmons.
I really didn't even sew much after that. Until my husband and Mother helped me make my first floppy eared, muslin rabbit back in the 90's. I found something, at that time, that I was passionate about. Dolls! And as the years went by I began giving them a less traditional look with the use of artist pencils, shading techniques, and simple painting for a more glam look. I practiced on scrap pieces of muslin until I felt comfortable enough to do the art work on a head. Yes, I will admit that I did scrap my share of heads at first...but, practice makes perfect...so until you feel that those eyes are just the way you want them to look on a head...don't make the same mistake I did.
I branched out into not just the creation of finished dolls, but the patterns to them also. I had done patterns before in the late 90's and had one of my dolls featured on the cover of the now out of print Country Marketplace Magazine. Even that pattern for the Waiting for Dorothy Scarecrow has changed over the years for the better! LOL.
I guess what I am trying to say is that...if this gal who FAILED sewing class can create a doll, YOU can too.
Start with something simple...like a one piece body/head construction and then move up to something more seasoned...like a separate head/body construction...and when you feel ready...try a round head doll! One of my personal favorites.

I am the Kat at Kat's Country Prims and I LOVE everything about doll making and creating. Take it from me, the gal who FAILED sewing in home economics...if I can sew...so can YOU.
All patterns include the doll body pattern pieces as shown in the photos and pattern pieces and measurements for the clothes they are wearing. Doll bodies are created using the TRACE & SEW method...it gives you a more true body shape. Doll clothing is created with seam allowances already on the pattern pieces. These are full size pattern pieces with complete and easy to follow instructions...including my time saving tips and tricks....ssshhh! Included in instructions is a recipe to make your own tea/coffee stain. Some patterns include a close up facial photo on the last page of the instructions to show detail. Mailed Patterns come with a color cover photo printed on the front and complete supply list printed on the back. E-Patterns include a full page cover, a full page material list. Last page of instructions also contains my email address so that you may contact me with any questions you may have regarding completion of the dolls. I am always happy to send a photo thru email to show more detail if I have one on-hand.
Sometimes you will find FINISHED DOLLS within my Etsy shop. The listings clearly state that you are purchasing a finished doll. Please make sure you read all listings carefully as Patterns are NON-REFUNDABLE due to their nature.

Final payment from PayPal invoice to customer should be received no later than 1 day from the time of sent invoice. When ordering custom items please plan ahead , especially if you are shopping for a birthday or holiday! Our back log of custom work always grows during the fall, pre-Christmas shopping season, and Easter as well, which is another reason to place your order early.
We are often asked if we can make items using fabric that our customers send us. The answer is yes, except we will not work with knits, or slippery or sheer fabrics. The reason is that it is difficult to get good results using these fabrics. We want you to be pleased with the finished product. You can contact us about fabric requirements per item. Generally, ½ yard cuts per fabric per item. All remaining fabric will be returned to you in your shipment.
We can not duplicate a doll we have made before. We can aim for the same look, similar hair, and clothing, but often it is hard to find that exact same skein of yarn or piece of fabric that was used during creation years ago.
PayPal is the only payment method currently available for those residing outside the U.S.
