Hello There, It's Nice to Meet You!
My studio in Wausau, Wisconsin is filled with everything I love which inspires me to create. Moosemom opened on Etsy in March of 2009 selling my handmade crafts and things vintage. I go by Moosemom because I'm a nature lover and am especially fond of moose. I'm a mother and grandmother so Moosemom seemed an appropriate and short name for my shop.
I love old needlework and rescue and restore any type of needlework and resell it to a good home. I also have a love of anything old and antique and try to intermingle these vintage items with my handmade items.
I ran a cross stitch design business under the name Something In Common for about ten years ending in 2007. That was my dream job until the crafting industry took off in different directions. Now, in this store, you'll see that I'm selling some of my old cross stitch models and patterns. I retired from customer service in 2013 and now devote my time to running Moosemom, writing, reading and stitching.
These days I lead a fairly simple life without the distraction of many voices or noise from machines. I can work when I want and as hard as I want. The forays for vintage and trips to the post office keep me active and writing poetry invigorates my senses. I still love to cross stitch and a part of my day is set aside for that. The business interactions help keep me social and my family and cat, well, they keep life real.

Frequently asked questions
How long before my order ships out?
It will take me 1 to 3 days to prepare your order. Most of the time, if payment is confirmed, I will ship the same day.
Do you offer a payment plan?
Yes, but it must be arranged through PayPal only.
Am I able to have an item "Held" for me until I can pay?
Yes. Contact me and we'll work out the details.
Are your vintage items cleaned and polished?
I do launder and press my linens to remove soiling before I list them for sale. If I can, I also launder needlework before I frame pieces. For all other vintage items, I usually give them a light dusting and wiping and try to preserve their vintage appearance.
Do you smoke or have pets?
Since the majority of my items are vintage and come to me from outside sources, I cannot guarantee the smoke-free or pet-free integrity as I don't know their history. No one in my household is a smoker nor is smoking allowed inside but we do have a household cat. All inventory is kept wrapped and stored and away from the cat.
Do you sell your items in "Like New" condition?
I wish I could answer as, yes, but the majority of my items are vintage and previously owned. As such, some items are likely to show wear and have imperfections, as can be expected with age. I always mention imperfections in my listing details and try to capture flaws in pictures. I try to provide good images and am always happy to supply more pictures if you ask. If items are handmade, then yes, they are in like new condition.
Will my package arrive safely?
I hope so! I pride myself on my careful packaging and 100% perfect feedback. I've had my shop on Etsy for over seven years and only one item has ever arrived broken.
What are your areas of expertise?
My main area of expertise is cross stitch and other needlework. I am a previous cross stitch pattern designer who sold wholesale worldwide. I've also had a passion for collectibles and antiques and over the years have gained a little knowledge about a lot of things. I research until I find my answers or ask local dealers for help
Do you only ship within the United States?
At this time I manually calculate shipping costs within the U.S. and the majority of the time I am spot on with my costs. I have trouble estimating international rates with so many unknowns but I am happy to calculate a shipping cost to your country. If you are interested, please convo me your country and I will convo back my quote. If you agree to the costs, I will update the listing with shipping, put a "Reserve" on the item under your name and send you the listing link to purchase.
What else do international customers need to know?
International customers are responsible for Import Duties, Taxes and Other Changes. They are NOT included in my item price or shipping price. Custom forms will not be falsified to avoid customs fees (please do not ask). You may need to contact your country's Custom's Office to find out what additional costs will apply to your purchase prior to your purchase. Finally, due to high international shipping costs, international returns will not be accepted unless you cover both the initial and the return shipping costs.
