For the love of fibre
I have loved the gentle arts of embroidery, knitting and sewing since I was a little girl and also love to support local artists, small business and farmers. Etsy provides a place for people to make a living from doing what they love and I am happy to be a part of this community.
Natural Fibre Arts started when I renewed my love of knitting while living in Doha, Qatar and was invited to attend a weekly group of expats, like-minded people who were passionate about their knitting and spinning. It was there that I first learned to spin on a drop spindle and later on a wheel.
Dyeing came soon after and once returning to Australia I made my dreams of starting my own online store a reality.
Now I dye with both naturally sourced ingredients and also purchased protein reactive dyes, on both yarn and roving. I try to be as environmentally sustainable as possible with natural dyeing, never removing a large amount of dye stuff from any one area so that the micro-environment remains unharmed. I also try to use mineral mordants that are not harmful to our environment but help to retain the colour in the yarn and roving.
I hope you enjoy browsing through Natural Fibre Arts and that you will spread the word to help support both my store and the Etsy community as a whole.
My facebook page is under the name of All Natural Dyeing and I also have a website that shows you how you can also achieve natural dyeing results and what plants to use. You can see these by clicking on the links to the right of this shop blurb.

Owner, Fibre Artist, Knitwear Designer
I have been a lover of fibre arts since I was a child. I grew up in a family where my grandmother and mother knit and crochet. I also spin & dye yarns and love to create with protein & natural dyes. I am passionate about supporting indie businesses.
I have always loved creating art and have been a creative person since I was a little girl. Now I enjoy being able to do that through the medium of dyes and fibres. Creativity is only limited by your imagination.
Debbie from Maybole and Wick makes beautiful fabric bags, totes and kids products. I had an idea to designed a needle roll to fit an entire set of Knitpro Zing DPNs. We work together on the design and after seeing the quality of her workmanship I now pre-order these exclusively from her.
In her own words, Jenn Wisbeck is a wool yarn and hat knitting obsessed pattern designer. We collaborated together to produce the Pamukkale Hat Pattern using her writing abilities and my dyeing creations
