My obsession for textiles, wool and creativity.
I grew up in the 1970s. My mum was a fashion designer and she would often take me to source wonderful fabrics such as "antique" laces, doilies in op shops and travel to source bright saris from India for her wonderful creations. In the 1980s after spending a year travelling and living in Europe I returned to Adelaide and owned my own wool shop on Gouger street 'Skeins' creating and designing patterns and knits from an amazing array of wool that I imported from Europe.
Today, I love to collect! I am a collectaholic! And love anything from vintage fashion and retro collectables... to beautiful vintage fabrics, vintage props and craft supplies.
'Retro and Roses' is an eclectic mix of vintage treasures. My upbringing has left me with a soft spot for delicate laces, embroidered doilies, soft roses and pretty vintage pieces. Sometimes I find pretty pieces that are no longer usable or wearable. I love to rescue aspects of these vintage pieces...handles of a vintage bag, luxury fabric of a silk kimono or the robust sanderson fabric of an unusable vintage cushion. I rescue these pieces and am looking forward to sharing them and many other pieces from my very large private collection, hoping that they will inspire a creative soul as they inspired me.
Also, in my craft store I will feature my collection of wool from my 1980s wool shop. This extensive collection is now 30 years old. It is still striking and beautifully vibrant. Stunning mohairs, pure wool and luxury silk, cotton and linen.
I am so excited about creating my second shop on Etsy and extending my passion for vintage textiles. I hope you will be inspired and enjoy it too! Trish

Frequently asked questions
Postage for MORE than ONE quantity
If you are choosing more than one quantity ie 2 or more balls of the same wool, Etsy charges postage for each ball of yarn which can become very expensive. Often postage is the same for 1-5 balls of yarn so please contact me if you are interested in quantities so I can adjust shipping appropriately.
