Welcome to Shugei Craft (手芸). We carry a carefully-curated selection of unique fabrics and craft supplies with a focus on brands from Japan.
Shugei (pronounced shoo-geh) is a Japanese word meaning handicraft. It is written in Japanese as 手芸, combining the character for hand (手) with the character for technique (芸). Shugei Craft combines my love of making, my passion for Japan and Japanese culture, and my compulsion to collect beautiful things.
Jess grew up in East TN as part of a family of makers. She now manages Shugei Craft from her home in Brooklyn, NY when she isn't working her day job at Etsy.
Matthew is Jess's husband and partner in crime. He helps out with assorted business-related tasks and occasionally cuts / packages orders for Jess when she's away from home.
