TheScreamingGoat is taking a short break
Note from seller
The Screaming Goat will be on vacation from Monday, May 7th, through the end of the month for some much needed shop updates, and also to spend some extra quality time with our grandmother whose health has declined. A big thanks to all of our customers and the wonderful support. We look forward to hearing from you again very soon! 💕
Sorry we don't have anything like that.
Live life with a purpose and plan! Create, discover, inspire, and enrich the lives of others with the abilities God has placed within you!
My name is Leigh Ann and I live in a small farm town in NC. Since I was a little girl, I always had a dream of opening up my own art shop one day! My dad built a gazebo right out in the front yard so my brother and I would have shelter while we waited for the school bus in the mornings. He told me I could turn this into my “art studio” and open up my very own store when I turned 16. I’ve taken an interest in decorating and designing for as long as I can remember. When I wasn’t playing ball or hanging out with my friends, I would spend countless hours creating various things. I figured my parents were probably the only ones who truly appreciated my drawing and crafts (because they had to, lol), so as I got older I figured I should probably find a REAL JOB. My hobbies weren’t gonna pay the bills! I got a job, worked, earned an honest paycheck, but I always felt I was born to do and be SO MUCH MORE! Little did I know then, but my greatest and most rewarding job was yet to come!
I was soon given the responsibility of raising another human being…and 3 more followed! And “so the adventure began” with 2 sons and two daughters. I don’t know why God trusted me so much with this huge responsibility, but I reassure myself in knowing He makes no mistake! He hand-picked them just for me; to trust me, teach me, love and complete me. They are each unique with distinctive gifts and abilities; I want them to believe they can achieve anything they set their hearts and minds to as they discover their gifts, using them wisely, and trusting the path the Lord has chosen for them. This isn’t necessarily an easy task, but reward/ satisfaction doesn’t come without sacrifice! Once they were all enrolled in school, I decided it was time to take my own advice and further my education while I continued seeking out my purpose as a provider and caretaker. I chose a career path that made the most sense to me, and attended college for 4 years where I earned my degree in Medical Office Administration.
I didn’t have a lot of extra money during that time, so I made gifts for my family and friends for different occasions. This brought me SO MUCH JOY and reminded me, again, of my “silly” childhood dream. I made wreaths, wine bottle lamps, bows, drawings, and all different kinds of home décor (sometimes seasonal and often more personal/sentimental hand-made pieces). Throughout some of the more difficult times my loved ones encountered, I wrote them gifts through poetry and song. Music and art have been a constant influence throughout my life, inspiring me to create things in hopes of bringing joy to others.
I’ve continued making gifts for many years. People always ask why I don’t sell my “stuff”; now that my children have gotten older (I have one in college now and another starting soon), well I figured why not?! When you love what you do, then perhaps you’re on the right path! My quiet time tends to involve designing and creating; it’s a wonderful pastime for me when I get to share what I enjoy with someone else. Our world has changed so much over the years; even though the gazebo my daddy built still stands in my parents’ front yard, we are blessed with so many [new] opportunities of sharing our ideas with other folks. It’s a big world and I still live in that same small town, haha!
THE NAME OF MY SHOP ORIGINATES from the daily motivation I encounter when creating from my little farm. I now have 6 kids (4 of the human-kind and my reason behind EVERYTHING, and 2 are the “animal kind”~ my goats Buddy and Ellie). While I’m working/building/creating, I hear the constant melody of a very determined little girl. She makes her presence known by loudly expressing herself. “BLAHHHT, BLAHHHT”, she calls, often climbing as high as she can (as you may know goats LOVE to climb)! I’ve watched all of my babies grow and transform; Ms. Ellie (the poster kid of my shop) has taught me that we, collectively, have many similarities! It’s unmistakable that we should take our time and plan our course daily; perhaps it’s time to stretch and reach for new heights, begin new climbs and new endeavors! You have to trust your own ability to land on your feet; having confidence in yourself and your own abilities is a very powerful tool, so keep moving forward one step at a time. Be diligent and have a strong work ethic; be fearless when it comes to difficult obstacles on your path. Have an enthusiastic spiritual ambition and enjoy exploring new heights within yourself. These parallels have been a great inspiration to me and I, like my little Ellie girl, want to be persistent in the pursuit of my purpose and plan each day, hopefully building a legacy that enriches the lives of others.
Caring for others along the way can be shown through simple genuine, thoughtful acts of expression. I make little things with LOTS OF LOVE, hoping it brings you as much happiness as it does me!!
