Building safe, fun & affordable bird toys.
Someone recently accused me of putting crack in my bird toys because their birds enjoyed them so much over all others they had tried. Needless to say, that question made me LOL. Over the years, I've had many similar questions presented to me "My bird LOVES your toys, what's your secret?" Let me just say on record that no, it isn't crack. I just pay attention to what birds like.
If you go into a large chain store and stand in front of the sparse section of bird toys, it's the same thing. Chunks of wood, pieces of rope, maybe some leather. Rinse and repeat. I would get bored if that's all I had to play with, too! Toys aren't simply for chewing, they're for stimulating the mind and keeping talons and beaks occupied in a way that makes a bird want to stay and play, not walk away. This is the philosophy that I weave into each new design that I create.
Of course, above keeping our flocks stimulated, safety is my number one priority. I've often been told that I'm overly cautious and paranoid and personally, I believe there's no such thing as being TOO careful. My safety routine is simple: if I wouldn't give a toy to my bird to play with, I won't make it for yours.
Owner, Designer, Avian Recreation Specialist
Owned by one feathered kid and one furry one, people often look at me like I'm crazy when I share what I do for a living. "Bird toys??" they ask. Simply put, I make birds happy for a living and I love doing it... no matter how many crazy looks I get!
A White Bellied Caique, Oliver spends his days eating, trying out new toy designs, eating... and did I mention eating?? He also doubles as the live-in entertainment, often caught showing off for the benefit of a few laughs.

Frequently asked questions
Do you ship outside of the US?
Yes. I only ship within the US from my Etsy store, but international shipping is available from my website, www.abirdtoy.com, where I ship worldwide!
Are all of the products you use safe for birds?
Yes! From veggie-tanned leather to zinc-free hardware, I am extremely careful to only source the best and safest parts for my toys. Rest assured that I have never cut corners by using inferior or toxic products. If I wouldn't give it to Oliver, I won't sell it!
I have a rabbit, chinchilla, rat, etc. Can I use your bird toys for them?
I have lots of folks who purchase certain items for their bunnies, monkeys, you name it! I am not as familiar with those animals as I am birds, so please only choose what is safe for your particular species ;-)
Do you have a sizing chart?
Absolutely! When shopping for toys, please refer to the following link. If you are still in doubt of what size toy is best for your bird, please contact me and I will be happy to help.
